As well as the garments for The Manifesto Of Value (which you can view here), I created a small 16 page booklet which would be displayed in the back pocket of the jeans. The booklet was inspired by memo booklets which were given out when purchasing workwear, they provided lots of extra value to workers by giving them lists of workers laws, grids to write in, and common conversion calculations.
This was 'The Manifesto Of Value'. The main topics of the book are defining value, modern work culture, feeling undervalued, workwear, unionisation, and two interactive tasks.
The first task is a method of objectively calculating the value of any input, which I created myself. The reader puts in their input and rates it from 1 to 5 against 20 different factors, giving them a final score.
The second task was to place rivets in high stress areas. I created small tokens (rivets) which can be placed on to the page and locate areas of the reader’s life that are causing unnecessary stress.
I also used the letterpress to print and scan some elements to add further authenticity.
